What is PQQ?

The disodium salt of pyrroloquinolinequinone is a reddish-brown powder produced by the non-genetically modified Hyphomicrobium denitrificans strain CK-275. It also occurs naturally in soil, food and breast milk. PQQ is a powerful antioxidant, i.e. it neutralizes free radicals. It also acts as a cofactor that enables many enzymes to function in our body by catalyzing certain chemical reactions.
