Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) contains a polysaccharide called pleuran that is isolated from this mushroom. Pleuran belongs to a group of glucose polymers commonly called beta-glucans that have biological response-modifying properties. These immunomodulating properties increase resistance to infections and tumors.
Pleurotus ostreatus contains several compounds beneficial to health, one of which is a rare amino acid compound, ergothioneine. Ergothioneine is a stable, safe and strong antioxidant (super antioxidant).
